De-mountable Carport

Covering a parking space near property lines is tricky. There are rules about where the posts can be placed and how far a roof can extend. If you have a structure that can be removed, you might not even need a permit. This winged carport from the PJR-Series is installed with sleeves. The canopy and posts can be lifted out if needed.

The second image in this picture gallery will show you a close-up of the connection between the footings and the post. Most modern aluminum carports from Japan have the option of a stiffener that is custom-sized to fit inside the aluminum posts. This heavy-duty aluminum profile can be used either to lift a carport higher or, as in this installation, to secure the concrete footing to the post above. The posts are lag-bolted to the profile, and when needed, you can remove those bolts and lift out the upper posts and canopy.
