2 Cars - 2 Footings

A winged carport from Japan is a great way to cover two cars when property lines are very close and posts aren’t allowed along the outside of the carport.

To stay away from the property line on the left and access the trash cans on the right, the winged PJR carport is a great solution.

(Note: The hurricane anchors, which ordinarily rest in an attachment on the post, have been employed for demonstration only.)

Image above shows the Y-connection as it is called. It is a specific aluminum profile that fits into the gutter profiles of each cantilever port as they bud up to each other. This additional aluminum profile ensures that no water will come between the two carport units.
For a closer look, check out this profile from above and this installation of a PJF winged carport.

Here you can see how both cantilever roofs drain into the gutters in the middle of this two-car cover.

Again, both roofs from another angle. The horizontal metal strip you see screwed down on top of each rafter is also an optional addition. It's called the panel support strips. Because all our polycarbonate roof panels are pinched between two rubber seals, they are engineered to release under very high winds. The panel support strips will keep this process at bay until about 100 mph.

This polycarbonate carport roof panel is called Blue Smoke. It is translucent, lets you see the sky, and reduces heat underneath by about 83%. In a hot state like California, Texas, and other southern states, a heat-cutting panel is a must. Follow this link to see which roof panels are available for our Japanese carports.
