This patio cover project also shows how a lightweight Japanese aluminum cover can be installed onto a fascia and even on an eave.

The lower cover is attached to the fascia, and the top deck-cover is installed on top of the roof because the headroom would have been to low otherwise. A roof-mounted Japanese patio cover cannot simply sit on the roof of the house. It needs to be lifted so that rain can drain off the roof and flow into the gutter. This also prevents dirt and debris from getting caught at this location. To make this happen, an additional ledger and risers are added.
